Jazz Chisholm Jr. leaves game with thumb injury; Yankees manager comments

Jazz Chisholm Jr. was removed from the game in the top of the ninth inning on Tuesday after injuring his right thumb while diving into second base during the bottom of the eighth inning. Chisholm initially remained in the game after the injury but made an errant throw to first base to start the ninth inning, leading to his replacement by José Caballero. The injury occurred when Chisholm was thrown out at second base after hitting a ball off the wall in right field. His out call was upheld after a review. Yankees manager Aaron Boone stated, "We’ll see" regarding Chisholm's condition and noted that Chisholm felt "a little numb". Boone mentioned that Chisholm could undergo imaging on the injury on Wednesday, depending on how he feels. Chisholm has had a challenging season but has shown improvement over the past two weeks. Meanwhile, Yankees pitcher Ryan Weathers, who has been sidelined with a left forearm flexor strain, began throwing again and is expected to return as a reliever. Weathers has been throwing at 75 feet and may transition to mound work soon. Additionally, Francisco Cruz, who was diagnosed with a partially torn UCL, received a cortisone shot and has been cleared to start throwing again, although he stated he will not return unless he is fully healthy. The Yankees secured their 34th consecutive winning record with their victory on Tuesday, which Boone acknowledged as a significant achievement for the organization.
