A Louisiana cruise passenger, Vanessa Phillips, reported being scammed out of nearly $1,100 for a Caribbean cruise before confronting the alleged scammer, Armonte Domious Wilson, aboard the MSC Seascape. Phillips planned to sail on the cruise from Galveston, Texas, from August 30 to September 6, 2026, with Wilson, whom she met on a previous cruise in December 2025.
Phillips claimed that Wilson requested $1,100 to secure her reservation on the cruise but then ceased communication as the sailing date approached. She later discovered that Wilson had only paid $524 for his own ticket and had excluded her from the reservation.
In an effort to confront Wilson, Phillips purchased a separate ticket for the cruise. In a video posted on Facebook on September 5, she confronted Wilson, asking, "Where's my money?" Wilson, found in a jacuzzi on the ship, initially claimed to have her money but later stated he did not have it on him.
Phillips accused Wilson of creating a fake itinerary and booking numbers, claiming she sent payments totaling nearly $1,100. The MSC Seascape offers seven-day cruises to Mexico and Honduras, with packages starting at $524 per person.
Wilson denied the allegations, stating he removed Phillips from the booking after she disputed the Venmo payments she sent him. He urged others to consider the facts and documentation rather than relying solely on parts of their conversation. Wilson mentioned that he is awaiting the resolution of the disputed transactions through Venmo.
