Georgetown University students are reportedly planning to hold a Charlie Kirk lookalike contest on September 10, 2026, the one-year anniversary of the conservative activist's assassination. This event has drawn criticism from the advocacy group Turning Point USA, which Kirk co-founded. The contest was promoted on the anonymous social media platform Fizz, where it received over 2,200 upvotes, representing nearly a third of the university's undergraduate student body. The post announcing the event invites participants to gather at Copley Lawn on campus. Georgetown's Turning Point USA chapter stated that the posts were intended to be mocking. Other discussions on the Fizz app included a lookalike contest for Kirk's widow, Erika Kirk. A Georgetown University spokesperson confirmed that the school was not organizing such an event and condemned the posts as inconsistent with the university's values, emphasizing that making light of a victim of violence is disappointing. Turning Point USA officials expressed their disapproval of the proposed contest, with spokesman Andrew Kolvet stating that it reflects a lack of respect for those who have fallen. Heidi Sui, president of the Georgetown chapter of Turning Point USA, also condemned the event, asserting that it does not represent the feelings of many Americans regarding Charlie Kirk's legacy.
