<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Jessica Schumer, who previously served as Amazon’s top public-policy official in New York, is expected to join OpenAI to manage the company’s government outreach and partnerships in the Northeast, according to a report by <em>Axios</em>, citing a spokesperson for OpenAI.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Jessica Schumer holds degrees from Harvard and Yale and has connections to the Democratic Party, which may be beneficial for OpenAI as it expands its operations in <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/Washington-DC/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Washington, D.C.</a>, where lawmakers are considering how to regulate the AI industry.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Her background includes serving as the chief of staff for the Council of Economic Advisers during the <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/Obama-administration/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Obama administration</a> and working as policy director for Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) during Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Other technology companies have also made similar hires in anticipation of potential congressional investigations and hearings, particularly with a Democratic-controlled House.</p>
