Israeli Strikes in Southern Lebanon Result in Casualties

Lebanon's Health Ministry reported that at least 10 individuals were killed in Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon overnight, including two children. The strikes targeted a residential building in Kfar Rumman, according to Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA). A separate drone strike reportedly hit a vehicle containing two medics, resulting in one paramedic's death and injuries to two others, as cited by the Health Ministry. Israel's military has not provided comments on these strikes. However, Israel's Foreign Ministry issued a statement on X, addressing the militant group Hezbollah, claiming that repeated drone attacks and the presence of weapons storage and command centers embedded in civilian areas are ongoing concerns. The ministry stated that Hezbollah is attempting to rebuild its military capabilities in southern Lebanon, which it claims violates the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon. In response to the strikes, Lebanon's President Joseph Aoun has called for assistance from Washington and the international community to halt Israeli attacks. The situation remains tense despite a peace agreement that was implemented over two months ago, with ongoing flare-ups between Israel and Hezbollah. Meanwhile, maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz has decreased to its lowest level since May, attributed to recent strikes involving US and Iranian forces targeting tankers. Data from analytics platform Kpler indicates that an average of 10 commodity vessels transited the Strait over the past 10 days, down from previous figures. The drop in traffic follows a series of military actions, including US strikes on Iranian oil tankers and retaliatory actions by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
