Five People Killed, Several Injured in Amazon Cargo Jet Crash at Miami International Airport

An Amazon cargo jet crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday, resulting in five fatalities and several injuries. The crash occurred when the jet overshot the runway, as reported by various sources. A source with knowledge of the incident informed NBC6 that the two pilots were transported to Jackson South Hospital, while three other individuals were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated that Air Flight 7598 overran the runway after landing at approximately 2 p.m. ET on Sunday. The aircraft involved was a Boeing 767-300 cargo plane that had departed from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Miami Fire Rescue Chief Raied Jadallah commented on the situation, stating that the plane struck several vehicles and trapped individuals inside who required extrication. He described the scene as a very complex situation. In a related incident, an Amazon Air jet crashed into Trinity Bay marshland in February 2019, resulting in three fatalities. The FAA attributed that crash to pilot error.
