He noted that Democratic Party officials have not contacted him to coordinate strategies, saying, "I have not had a conversation with anyone from the DNC. That would be very funny." </p><p>In an interview at the 2026 Socialism Conference in Chicago, Piker acknowledged that his long streaming sessions provide opportunities for opponents to create viral media moments. He referred to backlash from a 2019 statement where he said America "deserved 9/11," a comment condemned by politicians from both parties. Piker clarified that he should not have used the word "deserved," but maintained that his point was about America's involvement in the Middle East.</p><p>Piker's commentary resonates with the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), which has seen primary victories against more moderate Democrats, although party leaders have distanced themselves from him. Democratic consultant James Carville criticized Piker, stating, "One, he’s an idiot, and two, he’s not a Democrat.
