Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto Comment on Andy Green's Potential Return to Front Office

Andy Green appears to be maintaining his interim managerial position with the Mets, but both he and the organization are preparing for a potential return to the front office in the offseason. Green is reportedly looking to avoid the daily responsibilities of a managerial role. David Stearns, president of baseball operations, stated on Friday, "I think Andy’s done a very good job in the dugout. Again, I think we will get to the point where I’ll more fully describe what we’re seeking in our next manager. Today’s probably not the day to do that." After the Mets' 10-6 victory over the Giants, players Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto expressed their support for Green's decision, should he choose to return to the front office. Lindor remarked, "That’s a very personal decision. That’s between him and his family. We have no say in that. He’s a very respectable guy, and honest." Soto acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding next season, stating, "It’s tough to not know what you’re gonna get next year. That’s the hardest part for a player, not knowing what’s gonna happen." He added that Green has done well in his role, saying, "Everybody feels good with him. He stays out of the players’ way and lets everybody do their own thing." Regarding Green's future, Lindor noted, "It’s gonna be an interesting topic this offseason. We’ll see." Green expressed his enjoyment of the current team and the competitive environment in the dugout, stating, "I loved the current team and love the competition that comes from the dugout environment." Lindor emphasized the importance of Green's family in his decision-making, saying, "He’s got to make a decision with his family and those are the only people that matter."
