Rome is addressing the increasing presence of golf carts in its historic center, which have become popular among tourists. The city’s transport chief noted that there are only 4,300 regular on-street parking spots available, which is insufficient for the average 50,000 vehicles that enter daily. Rome’s deputy mayor for sustainable mobility, Eugenio Patanè, is working to regulate the number of vehicles in the historic center, including golf carts. He has proposed establishing fixed tour routes and limiting the number of carts allowed. However, operators argue that such regulations could harm their business.
