Katie Taylor Prepares for Final Boxing Match at Croke Park

Katie Taylor is set to face unbeaten French challenger Flora Pili in a match that could secure her undisputed world champion status for a third time. She stated, "I’m not sure if there’s any other country in the world where 80,000 people would turn up for a female athlete," emphasizing her desire to honor the support she has received throughout her career. Despite the celebratory atmosphere surrounding her retirement, she acknowledged the importance of maintaining focus during the fight, stating, "It is too dangerous of a sport to have your body in the ring and your heart outside of it thinking about retirement." Taylor made history in 2001 by participating in Ireland's first officially sanctioned women's boxing match and later campaigned for women's inclusion in the Olympics, winning gold in 2012. With a professional record of 25 wins and one loss, Taylor's legacy includes significant achievements in women's boxing, inspiring many young athletes. She noted the emotional impact of her final match, saying, "In a few days, I’ll make my last ring walk. I’ll look back on this in a few years and I imagine I’ll be overwhelmed."
