A Las Vegas man, Juan Orona, 29, has been charged with the murders of his girlfriend, Nohani Flores-Osuna, and her two children, Maiya, 16, and Noah, a kindergartner. The incident occurred after Flores-Osuna allegedly admitted to cheating on Orona, stating that her ex-boyfriend was 'better in bed.' Orona turned himself in shortly after 7 p.m. on Tuesday with a gunshot wound to his abdomen, admitting to police that he had shot the three victims.
According to an arrest report, Orona confronted Flores-Osuna at an apartment complex in west Las Vegas after seeing her car near that of her ex-boyfriend, identified only as 'Henry.' He claimed he 'blacked out' during the incident and later found himself in the bathroom with a 9mm Glock handgun, while Flores-Osuna and her children were dead on the floor.
Police arrived at the apartment located in the 5100 block of O’Bannon Drive and found the three victims deceased. Orona stated he could not remember the sequence of events or the details of the shooting. He indicated that the gun was in a backpack in his vehicle.
Orona had been in a relationship with Flores-Osuna for approximately three to six months and had contributed to the rent of the apartment. His father reported that Orona called him around 7 p.m. on Tuesday to say he had harmed his girlfriend and her children, after which they went to the police station together.
Orona faces three counts of open murder with a deadly weapon and 10 counts of firing a gun into an occupied structure. He is scheduled to appear in court on September 9 and is currently held at the Clark County Detention Center. A bail decision has been postponed to allow for case review.
