Father and Son Coaching Duo at Molloy Soccer Club

John Fitzgerald has been appointed as the head soccer coach at Molloy, where he will coach alongside his son, Sean Fitzgerald, who is a former player at Molloy and Binghamton. John expressed his pride in transitioning from being Sean's fan to his coach and now a colleague. The Fitzgeralds are coaching the Lions this fall, with Sean also playing for the American Soccer Club in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). John noted Sean's strength as a player lies in his understanding of the game, which enhances their coaching discussions. The two have shared conversations during car rides between practices, with John often discussing soccer while Sean manages to balance the conversation. John mentioned that Sean is passionate on the field and often participates in practice to help demonstrate techniques. The Molloy soccer team has started the NCAA season with a 1-0 record under their leadership. They are also preparing for an opening-round match in the U.S. Open Cup against Osner’s FC, scheduled for September 13 at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn.
