<p>A musician, his pregnant wife, their 3-year-old daughter, and the family’s nanny were found shot and killed inside a residential building outside Mexico City. </p><p>The four victims were discovered alongside an unharmed 6-year-old boy in the Zona Esmeralda area of Atizapán de Zaragoza, according to the State of Mexico Prosecutor’s Office.</p><p>The victims were identified as a 38-year-old male music producer and composer with the initials J.S.M.O., his 35-year-old pregnant wife, their 3-year-old daughter, and a 21-year-old woman, as stated by the State of Mexico Prosecutor’s Office in a statement shared on X.</p><p>Two of the victims were found bound, and those victims along with the 3-year-old girl had suffered gunshot wounds to the head, while the fourth victim had been shot in the back, according to the prosecutor’s office.</p><p>Authorities believe the killings occurred on Tuesday, Sept. 1, between 5:30 p.m. and 7:40 p.m.</p><p>Authorities arrested two men, Diego Sebastián "N" and Gerardo "N," in connection with the killings.</p><p>Billboard identified the musician as Jonathan Meléndez, a keyboardist for the Mexican band Camilo Séptimo. The band confirmed his death in a statement shared on Instagram.</p><p>Authorities have not publicly disclosed a motive but described one of the suspects as an "associate of J.S.M.O."</p><p>They allegedly took advantage of a relationship of trust between one of them and the victims to gain access to the residence, according to a police statement.</p><p>Omar García Harfuch, Mexico’s secretary of security and citizen protection, stated that authorities moved quickly to apprehend the suspects.</p><p>"Given the gravity of the crime, the institutions acted immediately and in a coordinated manner," Harfuch said in a statement shared on Facebook.
