Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel have addressed the findings of an investigation by The Athletic regarding their alleged affair. The report described their relationship as a 'clear violation' of newsroom standards. Russini stated, 'I stand by any and all reporting I’ve ever done in my career.' In a press conference, Vrabel remarked, 'No, I don’t have any reaction to that,' adding that they are focused on their upcoming game against Seattle. Mike Semel, the Athletic’s editorial director for standards and editorial quality, noted that regardless of the nature of the relationship, it was a breach that should have been disclosed. He also mentioned that while there were instances of Russini writing positively about Vrabel, the majority of her work did not relate to him or his teams. Russini resigned from her position at the New York Times’ sports site in April after photos of her and Vrabel holding hands at an Arizona resort surfaced. Both individuals denied any wrongdoing. Russini emphasized her commitment to professionalism in her career and expressed her decision to step aside to avoid further damage to her reputation. In April, Vrabel mentioned he was seeking counseling following the incident, stating it was important for him to lead by example. Both remain married to their respective spouses.
