Prohibition Brewing Company to Close After 15 Years in Business

Prohibition Brewing Company, a family-owned brewery in North County San Diego, will close its doors at the end of September 2026 after 15 years of operation. The owners, Ron, Kathy, and Kyle Adams, announced the closure as they prepare to sell the business. The brewery's property, which spans 6,687 square feet, is listed for $2.75 million. Kyle Adams cited inflation and cautious consumer spending as challenges in maintaining the business. The brewery will hold sales on kegs and cans as it approaches its final days of operation. Prohibition Brewing's closure follows the recent announcement of Stone Brewing's decision to shut down its Escondido campus, which has also resulted in significant layoffs. The San Diego County beer industry has faced difficulties, with over 20 breweries reportedly closing in recent years. Adams indicated that while the brewery will continue operations for the next two weeks, they have ceased food orders and brewing, which may lead to a shortage of products and staff as employees seek other jobs.
