Colorado gubernatorial nominee discusses encounter with Satan in podcast

<p>Victor Marx, the Republican gubernatorial nominee for Colorado, claimed in a resurfaced podcast episode that he "met Satan in person" through another individual. This statement was first reported by Talking Points Memo.</p><p>In a 2020 episode of his podcast, Marx, a Marine veteran and leader of a Christian ministry, recounted an experience while praying for a girl in a high-security youth prison in Texas. He stated, "This girl started manifesting a demon" and noted that the other girls in the facility reacted by huddling in a corner.</p><p>Marx described the encounter as "horrible," stating, "This demon… just really manifested pretty nasty." He claimed that when he asked the demon its name, it responded, "I am Satan," and he asserted, "If you think I’m joking, I’m not."</p><p>He characterized the girl as "just adorable," but mentioned he could tell "she had a demon in her." Marx recounted that the demon acknowledged its possession, leading him to laugh, which he said made the demon angry.</p><p>Marx is the founder of All Things Possible Ministries, which focuses on spiritual, emotional, and physical liberation.</p><p>After securing the GOP gubernatorial nomination earlier this summer, Marx gained attention for forming an all-Marine ticket, which he claims can provide the necessary resolve to address a democratic socialist movement gaining traction in various races. He and his running mate, retired Marine Col. George Markert, position themselves as political outsiders with the discipline to confront this movement.</p><p>Marx's campaign emphasizes public safety, social conservatism, and the cost of living, coinciding with a period where the Democratic Party's left wing has achieved several primary victories, including in Colorado.</p><p>He is competing against Democrat Phil Weiser, the current attorney general of Colorado, who is considered the frontrunner to succeed term-limited Governor Jared Polis.</p>
