Alanis Morissette files lawsuit against former tour manager for alleged extortion and false claims

<p>Alanis Morissette has filed a lawsuit against her former tour manager, Keren Urinov, alleging civil extortion and false drug trafficking claims. The lawsuit, filed on September 3, 2026, accuses Urinov of attempting to blackmail Morissette by threatening to report her to British authorities for drug trafficking unless she was employed as a tour director for fifteen years with significant compensation.</p><p>According to court documents, Urinov was hired as a temporary tour manager in 2025. During a flight from Farnborough Airport in the U.K. to Spain, a bag belonging to Urinov was flagged by the British Border Force, which allegedly contained marijuana and xylazine. Urinov reportedly admitted ownership of the bag to the authorities, who later released her after she presented her Israeli medical marijuana license.</p><p>Upon returning to the U.K., Urinov was detained again and reaffirmed her ownership of the bag and its contents. Following the tour, Urinov and her attorney allegedly sent multiple letters to Morissette, threatening to file a lawsuit unless Morissette claimed the drugs belonged to her.</p><p>Urinov's demands included a long-term employment contract and assistance in obtaining a work visa for the U.S. Morissette's lawsuit states that Urinov's management during the tour was inadequate, citing a hotel booking error that cost Morissette $70,000. Additionally, Urinov allegedly disclosed a past arrest for drug smuggling in a Latin American country, which she had not mentioned during her interview for the tour manager position.</p><p>Morissette is seeking compensatory damages exceeding $75,000 and has requested a jury trial.</p>
