Photographer injured by foul ball during Yankees-Angels game

<p>During the sixth inning of the New York Yankees’ 6-3 extra-inning win over the Los Angeles Angels on September 2, 2026, a photographer was hit in the head by a foul ball. The incident occurred when Yankees designated hitter Ben Rice hit an 87-mph slider from Angels starting pitcher Reid Detmers into the camera well, where the photographer was positioned.</p><p>The ball came off Rice’s bat at 79.5 mph. Following the incident, Rice displayed concern for the photographer. The Yankees medical staff responded quickly, with Mike Schuck, the director of sports medicine and rehab, attending to the injured photographer, while Tim Lentych, the Yankees' head trainer, called for a cart to assist.</p><p>The game was paused for approximately 10 minutes as medical personnel tended to the photographer, with the crowd remaining silent during this time. Rice approached the camera well to observe the situation. The photographer was later able to walk off under his own power while wearing a neck brace and was assisted to the cart.
