Scottie Scheffler's caddie discusses his decision to stay with PGA Tour amid LIV Golf offers

<p>Scottie Scheffler recently became the top player on the PGA Tour's career money list, earning over $130 million. At 30 years old, Scheffler has earned $10 million more than Tiger Woods did in his career. His caddie, Ted Scott, noted that for Scheffler, financial gain is not the primary motivation.</p><p>Scheffler reached the No. 1 ranking in March 2022, coinciding with LIV Golf's attempts to attract players from the PGA Tour, just three months before the inaugural event of the Saudi-backed league.</p><p>Ted Scott began caddying for Scheffler in November 2021. During their early partnership, Scott asked Scheffler why he did not have sponsors. Scheffler responded, "Well, because I just want to play with the equipment that I want to play." Scott recalled a conversation during the LIV Golf discussions, where he suggested that Scheffler might receive an offer of around $250 million to join LIV. Scheffler replied, "I don't care what they offer me. They can offer me a billion dollars. I'm going to play where the best players are because I just want to beat people."</p><p>Scott acknowledged that this conversation highlighted Scheffler's unique mindset. Prior to working with Scheffler, Scott had a successful career as a caddie, including being part of Bubba Watson's two Masters victories. Together, Scott and Scheffler have achieved significant success over the past five years.</p><p>Scott has been present for all of Scheffler's 22 PGA Tour victories, starting with his first win in February 2022, as well as the four major championships Scheffler has secured. In 2026, Scheffler earned nearly $31 million on the PGA Tour. Caddies typically earn around 10 percent of a player's earnings, suggesting that Scott likely earned over $3 million during the past season.</p>
