Driver of Anthony Joshua's vehicle faces trial following fatal crash

Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, is on trial in Nigeria for charges including causing death by dangerous driving and driving without a valid national driver's license. He denies the charges. The court heard that Kayode was attempting to overtake another vehicle when he lost control of his Lexus SUV, resulting in a collision with a parked lorry that killed two passengers, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, who were friends of boxer Anthony Joshua. The group was traveling to visit Joshua's father in Ogun State near Lagos last December when the incident occurred. Inspector Christopher Ajayi Taiwo of the Ogun State Motor Traffic Division testified that debris from the crash and soya beans from the lorry's load were found at the scene. The only items recovered from the Lexus were a logbook, painkillers, and an energy drink. The trial has been adjourned until September 10. Joshua, who was a passenger in the vehicle, has not yet provided a statement to police regarding the incident, with efforts to contact him ongoing. Following the crash, Joshua paid tribute to his deceased friends on social media, expressing the impact of their loss.
