Aggressive Wild Animal Reported in New Hampshire Neighborhood Following Attacks

An aggressive wild animal has been reported in a New Hampshire neighborhood, attacking at least three people in less than two days, prompting local authorities to advise residents to remain aware of their surroundings. The Lebanon Police Department stated that the creature, described by witnesses as either a gray fox or a fisher, has been involved in attacks in the Centerra Park area since Sunday. Police believe the same animal is responsible for all three incidents but have not yet identified or located it. Surveillance footage captured the animal charging at two individuals near a U-Haul truck, where it grabbed one man's bag and then pursued his feet and legs. The first attack occurred on Sunday, with two additional incidents reported by Monday evening. Police initially suspected a fisher cat was responsible for the first attack. Lebanon Police Chief Phillip Roberts expressed concern over the animal's behavior, suggesting it may indicate illness, such as rabies. Residents were advised not to approach or interact with any wild animals displaying aggressive behavior. The police are collaborating with the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department to locate the animal and assess its health. Additionally, a rabies scare has been reported in Staten Island, where a fox suspected of being rabid bit a visitor at the Mount Loretto Unique Area, as noted by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
