Police Investigate Arson Attack on Defense Firm in Munich

Two individuals were arrested in connection with a small fire at a construction site in Munich, where police are investigating an attempted attack on a defense company. The Bavarian State Criminal Police Office (LKA) reported that the fire, which occurred early Thursday morning around midnight, is suspected to have been politically motivated. Multiple incendiary devices were thrown from a vehicle at the site in Munich's Berg am Laim borough. At least one device ignited a fire that was extinguished by police, while another device was defused by special forces. No significant damage was reported. The suspects, a 28-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man, both Bulgarian citizens, were arrested at a nearby gas station and are currently being questioned. The Bild tabloid suggested that the fire targeted Rohde & Schwarz, a technology company that produces communication systems for the Bundeswehr, although the police have not confirmed the identity of the company involved. This incident follows Germany's recent closure of Russian cultural centers in response to an attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport, which Germany attributed to Russia. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced the closure of Germany's Goethe-Institut cultural centers in Russia as a retaliatory measure.
