Samantha Adams, a 39-year-old woman from Florida, has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly drugging a 69-year-old man she met on a dating app. According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Adams is accused of spiking the victim's drink with Benzodiazepine at his home in Haines City last month, which resulted in his hospitalization days later.
Investigators believe that Adams intentionally mixed the drug into the victim’s drink. The victim, who has not been identified, suspects that Adams may have attempted to poison him on at least three other occasions at her residence in Orange County.
The investigation began on August 20 after the victim reported being admitted to the hospital three days earlier due to an “unexpected medical incident.” The victim expressed concerns about suspicious circumstances surrounding his medical issue, which arose after an argument about a vehicle he had purchased for Adams.
Following the argument, Adams allegedly brought two glasses of whiskey to the victim, who drank from one of them. Afterward, their interaction became intimate, but Adams reportedly demanded $1,000 to continue. The victim later passed out and was taken to the hospital, where medical staff confirmed a Benzo overdose, despite the victim stating he does not take any Benzodiazepine medication.
The victim recounted previous incidents where he felt unwell after consuming alcohol with Adams, including an August incident where he fell after taking a shot and another where he passed out in his vehicle after leaving her home.
Authorities also found evidence of tampering with the victim’s home security system, with Adams seen in the vicinity of the surveillance equipment. Adams had initially met the victim on a dating app using the name “Nala.”
Sheriff Grady Judd warned that there may be other victims and advised caution when meeting Adams online. Adams was arrested on August 27 at a shopping center in Davenport, Florida, where she was found in possession of various prescription medications not prescribed to her.
She faces multiple charges, including second-degree attempted murder, tampering with evidence, offering to commit prostitution, and possession of controlled substances such as oxycodone, hydrocodone, and alprazolam.
