Jim Thornton, announcer for 'Wheel of Fortune,' suspended amid investigation

<p>Jim Thornton, the announcer for "Wheel of Fortune," has been suspended following allegations that arose this week. His attorney stated that Thornton, 61, "did not engage in any illegal conduct, was not arrested, and has not been charged with any crime." </p><p>A spokesperson for Sony Pictures Television Studios confirmed the suspension and noted that they are recasting while conducting a thorough investigation into the allegations. </p><p>The allegations are reportedly related to an incident on an American Airlines flight in May, where another passenger complained about Thornton's behavior. Law enforcement met the flight upon arrival at Los Angeles International Airport due to concerns reported by a customer onboard. </p><p>According to the airline, law enforcement questioned Thornton for approximately five minutes and determined that no wrongdoing had occurred. Thornton was then allowed to leave without any charges. </p><p>Thornton has been the announcer for "Wheel of Fortune" since 2011, replacing the late Charlie O'Donnell. Prior to his role on the game show, he provided voices for various animated shows and has also announced for "The Price is Right" and "Jeopardy!" He has been recognized with several awards, including the Edward R. Murrow award and an Emmy.</p>
