Woman Arrested After Allegedly Attacking Jewish Teen at Florida Target

Chyvonne Palmer, 43, was arrested on August 2 after allegedly attacking a teen wearing a yarmulke at a Target store in North Miami Beach, Florida. Surveillance footage captured the incident, showing the victim sitting at a Starbucks within the store when Palmer approached and struck him with her cellphone. According to the arrest report, Palmer shouted, 'I hate them' during the attack. After the initial strike, she reportedly grabbed a steel chair, prompting the victim to flee. Bystanders intervened to stop Palmer from further assaulting the teen, while another witness assisted him in finding a bathroom. The victim, who chose to remain anonymous, described the cellphone used in the attack as being the size of half a brick. Following the incident, police arrested Palmer on charges including aggravated battery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with prejudice. During a court appearance, Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Rosa C Figarola prohibited Palmer from returning to the Target store and ordered her to stay away from the victim. Palmer is currently being held on a bond of $12,750. The investigation is being conducted by the State Attorney's Office's Hate Crimes Unit. A spokesperson for Target expressed sadness over the incident, emphasizing the company's commitment to guest safety and cooperation with law enforcement.
