Scott Jennings Discusses Mitch McConnell's Absence from Senate

Jennings, during an interview with CNN anchor Kasie Hunt, noted that McConnell has not been seen in public for 80 days.</p><p>Jennings stated, “I haven’t spoken to him for several days, just to be clear. I know he’s at home. I know he’s still doing his recovery. The Senate goes back in on the 14th of September. I know they’re fighting to get him back to work. I know he wants to go back to work, and I know he wants to finish his term, and it’s his intention to do so. But there’s two weeks between now and when the Senate goes back.”</p><p>When asked about the last time he communicated with McConnell, Jennings replied, “It’s been several days. A couple of weeks,” which Hunt noted was a significant range. Jennings clarified, “I’m trying to be precise. It’s been a couple of weeks since I spoke to him.”</p><p>Hunt inquired about Jennings' belief in McConnell's intention to complete his term. Jennings affirmed, “Of course,” but added, “His intention is to finish his term, as far as I know. And his intention is to hopefully go back to work, and as you pointed out, this is his last term. There’s a Senate race in Kentucky this fall, and one way or the other, his term will end in January.”</p><p>Regarding the communication from McConnell’s office, Jennings suggested they should provide more information to the public. He stated, “I think between now and the 14th, they need to tell the people of Kentucky his intentions on going back to the Senate floor. There are votes on the floor. There will be votes in committee.
