<p>Transgender actor Elliot Page has reported difficulties in securing acting roles despite his recent success in major films, including <em>The Odyssey</em>.</p>
<p>Page, who began his career as Ellen Page, is known for roles such as Kitty Pryde in the <em>X-Men</em> franchise and appearances in films like <em>Inception</em>, <em>Juno</em>, and <em>Hard Candy</em>. He publicly came out as transgender in December 2020 and became the first openly transgender man to feature on the cover of <em>Time</em> magazine. Page has continued his acting career with roles in productions like <em>The Umbrella Academy</em>.</p>
<p>In a recent podcast appearance on <em>On Film … With Kevin McCarthy</em>, Page mentioned that despite his role in Christopher Nolan’s <em>The Odyssey</em>, he has not received many offers for new roles. McCarthy expressed surprise at this lack of opportunities.</p>
<p>Page humorously suggested that the limited offers might be due to being Canadian, while also hinting that it could be related to his identity as a transgender man. He stated, “I was seen in a certain way before, and it’s different now, so maybe there is something to reaching out to people and trying to create connections and projects that way. But it’s a little tricky for me to get cast right now. I think that’s for pretty obvious reasons.”</p>
<p>He compared his experience on <em>The Odyssey</em> to his previous work on <em>Inception</em>, describing the latter as uncomfortable in contrast to the positive experience he had on the set of <em>The Odyssey</em>. Page expressed gratitude for being part of the project, stating, “I’m grateful to Chris for having me be a part of this, and I certainly have been so lucky in my career and gotten to play some really fantastic parts.”</p>
