The Chicago Bears are uncertain about the return of defensive back Kyler Gordon, who has been sidelined due to a calf injury. General Manager Ryan Poles stated on Tuesday that he does not know if or when Gordon will return to play. Gordon has missed spring practices and all of training camp and is currently on the physically unable to perform list, which means he will miss at least the first four games of the season. Poles expressed hope for Gordon's return, stating, "I would hope so. I still have hope there. He’s going to have to continue to work hard and come back to play football again."
Gordon, a second-round pick in 2022, had a promising rookie season with three interceptions and signed a three-year, $40 million contract extension ahead of the 2025 season. However, he played in only three games last season due to injuries but did participate in both of Chicago’s playoff games. Poles did not provide further details on the nature of Gordon’s injury, only noting that the 26-year-old has been "working" but that progress has not been as fast as desired. Last season, the Bears ranked 22nd in pass yards allowed, primarily without Gordon, and they aim to improve in that area this season.
