<p><a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/iran/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Iran</a> accused the United States of conducting an airstrike on a wedding party in the southern region of the country on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of at least five individuals, as <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/u-s-central-command/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM)</a> announced the completion of its latest series of strikes against Iranian military targets.</p>
<p>According to Iranian officials, a U.S. strike hit a residence hosting a wedding in Kuhestak, a coastal city near the <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/strait-of-hormuz/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Strait of Hormuz</a>. Ahmad Nafisi, the deputy governor of the province, stated on Iranian state television that five people, including a child, were killed and at least 68 others were injured.</p>
<p>CENTCOM reported that it concluded strikes on Iranian military targets on Tuesday evening, which included air defense sites, radar systems, naval assets, mine-laying capabilities, and communications sites. However, CENTCOM did not confirm the strike on the wedding, asserting that it does not target civilians.</p>
<p>“We are aware of reports, which originated from Iranian state media. The U.S. military never targets civilians, unlike the IRGC,” said CENTCOM spokesman Tim Hawkins.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/irgc/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)</a> stated that the alleged attack on the wedding would prompt a “regretful response to the aggressors,” and claimed that its “new aerospace defense system” had intercepted an American drone.</p>
<p>CENTCOM indicated that the renewed strikes were a response to Iran’s actions to lay additional sea mines in the Strait and its missile attack against a U.S. base in Jordan. The attack on Tuesday followed a <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/world/4705644/us-strikes-iran-first-time-month/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">U.S. strike</a> on Sunday against the IRGC, marking the first such action after a month-long hiatus in airstrikes between Washington and Tehran.</p>
<p>President <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/donald-trump/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Donald Trump</a> warned that any Iranian retaliation would be met with significant U.S. action. “If they retaliate, they’ll be hit much harder. And if they do it again, they’ll be no longer,” Trump told Fox News.</p>
<p>The reported strike on the wedding adds to previous accusations by Iran against the U.S. regarding civilian targeting. At the beginning of the conflict, a strike on an Iranian elementary school resulted in over 100 fatalities among school-aged children.</p>
<p>The strike on the school occurred on the first day of the war in Iran, February 28, when a missile, identified by weapons experts as a U.S. Tomahawk, reportedly struck Shajarah Tayyebeh elementary school in Minab, Iran, killing over 150 individuals, mostly school-aged girls.</p>
<p>A <em>New York Times</em> <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/03/11/us/politics/iran-school-missile-strike.html" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">report</a> indicated that the strike was due to U.S. forces relying on outdated data for target identification. The report stated that an investigation into the strike was completed in July but is still awaiting approval from top Pentagon officials for release.</p>
