Tacko Fall signs training camp deal with the Philadelphia 76ers

Tacko Fall has signed a training camp deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, the franchise announced on Tuesday. Standing at 7 feet 6 inches, Fall is among the tallest players in NBA history. He has not played in an NBA game since late 2021, when he appeared in 11 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Following that, the Senegal native played in the Chinese Basketball Association and Australia’s NBL. Fall, 30, previously spent two seasons with the Boston Celtics from 2019 to 2021, participating in a total of 26 games. The signing indicates that the 76ers are seeking backup center options for Joel Embiid, who has struggled with injuries, playing no more than 39 games in the 2022-23 season. Currently, the 76ers' roster includes free agent Ariel Hukporti and second-year player Adem Bona as potential backups for Embiid. Fall's contract is non-guaranteed, meaning he must prove himself to secure a spot on the team. Last season, he played for the Ningbo Rockets in China, averaging 11.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 18.1 minutes per game over four years abroad. In his NBA career, Fall has averaged 2.2 points and 2.4 rebounds across 37 games. The 76ers have added Jaylen Brown, Fall’s former teammate, and LeBron James during the offseason, setting high expectations for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
