The warning came shortly after the US confirmed it had launched strikes on Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz. Trump stated that American forces were actively targeting Iranian positions and warned that a larger attack could follow.
The US State Department's advisory emphasized the complex security environment in the region and urged Americans to exercise heightened vigilance. It noted that the current strikes were in response to Iran's alleged attempts to lay sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz and an attack on a US military base in Jordan, which involved the launch of eight missiles.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated, "If the failed Nation of Iran retaliates for this very justified attack, they will be hit again at a much harder and higher level, but it will not be the biggest attack of them all, that is waiting in the wings." He claimed that all missiles launched at the US base in Jordan had been successfully intercepted.
The US strikes targeted Iranian rocket launchers on Larak Island, marking the first US military action on Iranian territory since late July. These developments have also affected energy markets, with oil prices rising by approximately three percent following the strikes.
