Former Miss North Carolina USA Brittany Boltinhouse Receives New Title After Controversy

Boltinhouse, 27, initially won the Miss North Carolina USA title on June 28, but was stripped of her crown on August 5 due to resurfaced social media posts containing racially charged language.</p><p>Thom Brodeur, CEO and chairman of Miss USA and Miss Teen USA, stated, "The Miss USA organization does not tolerate racism, homophobia, transphobia, nor language that strips any person of their dignity." The specific reasons for her removal were not detailed by the organization.</p><p>Reports from North Carolina news outlet NCBeat included screenshots of social media posts linked to Boltinhouse that used the N-word in 2017 and other posts from 2019. Boltinhouse did not deny authorship of these posts.</p><p>On August 23, Boltinhouse filed a defamation lawsuit in Duplin County Superior Court against Brodeur and A Blaize Productions, the Miss North Carolina production company. The lawsuit claims that Boltinhouse, of Afro-Latino descent, used the N-word as slang.</p><p>On August 31, she announced via Instagram that she had been crowned Miss Global Honduras 2026. The pageant is set to take place in Thailand, with contestant arrivals beginning on September 29 and concluding with the final on October 11.</p><p>CNB Latin America, the organization behind the Miss Global title, expressed its commitment to representing the culture and spirit of Honduras through Boltinhouse. They stated, "We firmly believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to fulfill their dreams, and that a country also deserves a new opportunity to be represented with pride, respect, and determination."</p><p>Some commenters raised questions about Boltinhouse's eligibility for the competition, noting that the organization's rules state contestants may not be married or currently pregnant. Boltinhouse had mentioned her husband in a July interview.</p><p>Boltinhouse has previously stated that she believes her removal from the Miss North Carolina title was due to her conservative political beliefs and religious views. She has expressed pride in her faith and her identity as a conservative Christian woman.</p><p>In her lawsuit, Boltinhouse alleges that the pageant organizers created a "false public narrative" that painted her as an "intolerable bigot." A Blaize Productions responded, asserting that their decision was based on a comprehensive review of Boltinhouse's conduct and public content that did not align with the expectations of a titleholder.</p>
