Poland initiates terror investigation into fire at drone parts factory

Poland has opened a terror investigation into a fire at a factory that supplies parts for drones used by Ukraine. The Polish National Prosecution Office announced the investigation on Monday, citing suspicions of foreign intelligence service involvement and potential sabotage. The statement indicated that the probe aims to investigate participation in activities of a foreign intelligence service directed against Poland and a terrorist offense involving the deliberate ignition of a fire at the WB Electronics factory in Skarzysko-Kamienna, which occurred shortly after midnight. The factory produces critical components for drones supplied to both the Polish and Ukrainian militaries. Firefighters took two hours to control the blaze, and the Internal Security Agency is assisting the police in the investigation. No public details have been disclosed due to the sensitive nature of the case. WB Electronics is one of Poland's largest private defense companies, manufacturing loitering munitions, drones, fire-control systems, and military communication tools. The Ukrainian military employs the FlyEye and Warmate drones. Other European nations supporting Ukraine have reported similar incidents suspected to be sabotage by Russian operatives. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk previously stated that a Russian citizen was detained for allegedly being recruited to carry out an assassination in Warsaw. Additionally, an unexploded drone was found at a German airport earlier in August. Poland has been enhancing its security and military capabilities amid concerns over potential Russian attacks.
