Venus Williams eliminated in first round of US Open singles

Venus Williams was eliminated from the U.S. Open after losing to fellow American wild card Sofia Kenin with a score of 6-2, 7-6 (6). The match took place on Arthur Ashe Stadium, starting at midnight. Williams had a late lead in the second set but ultimately lost, marking her 14th consecutive singles match defeat since July 2025.
