<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) indicated that he may run for president in 2028, stating, “there will be a time” when he would make a decision.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">During an appearance on NBC News’s <em>Meet the Press</em>, Cruz was asked if he was “seriously considering” a presidential run in 2028, 12 years after his unsuccessful 2016 campaign against President Donald Trump. He did not provide a direct answer but suggested that speculation about his candidacy could be warranted.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“You know, the <em>Book of Ecclesiastes</em> tells us there’s a time for every season, and this is not that season right now. This is the season of the midterms, and I’ll tell you, I’m spending my time on the road, campaigning for candidates all over the country,” he said, referring to his current focus on midterm elections.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“I think most Americans want to see good policies, good jobs put in place. And so I’m going to spend my time between now and Election Day fighting for the midterms,” he added.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When asked for a definitive answer regarding his presidential ambitions, Cruz did not respond directly.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“As I said, there will be a time for that conversation,” he stated.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Cruz recently reignited discussions about his presidential aspirations, first by challenging assumptions that Vice President JD Vance would be the presumptive 2028 candidate, and later stating his desire to be president during an appearance on Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s podcast.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“It’s no secret that I want to be president,” Cruz told Patrick.</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“I will say, this is a bug that history has proved is rarely ended,” he added. “It is a permanent and often fatal bug.”</p>
<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As of Sunday, he still did not commit to running in 2028, stating, “Time will tell.”</p>
