Claude Code Automatically Includes Session URLs in Commit Messages and PR Descriptions

Claude Code now includes a session URL at the bottom of every commit message and pull request (PR) description by default. This URL appears in the format https://claude.ai/code/session_... without any opt-in prompt, warning, or mention during the onboarding process. Users typically discover this addition only after it has been included in their git history. Suggestions for improvement include making the session URL attribution opt-in, providing a one-time prompt during onboarding asking users if they would like to include a link back to the Claude session in commit messages. Alternatively, the setting could remain opt-out but be made more discoverable by showing it during the first commit with an option to not add it again. Another suggestion is to remove the session URL entirely and rely solely on the existing Co-Authored-By: Claude trailer for attribution. Developers using Claude Code have expressed concerns that the automatic inclusion of the session URL appears unprofessional and clutters their project history.
