Shooting at Switzerland Rave Results in One Fatality and Five Injuries

<p>A 22-year-old woman was killed and five other individuals were injured in a shooting early Sunday at a rave in northern Switzerland, according to authorities. The incident occurred in the Schachen area of Aarau, the capital of the Aargau canton, during the "Aarau Rave VOL. 7" event held at a horse-racing track, as reported by Swiss broadcaster SRF.</p><p>Aargau cantonal police confirmed that the woman died from her injuries at the scene. Four men and another woman, aged between 24 and 27, were transported to hospitals with injuries that varied from minor to serious. All six victims are residents of Switzerland.</p><p>Police spokesman Pascal Wenzel stated that authorities were notified of the shooting shortly after 2:30 a.m. The event was scheduled to conclude at 2 a.m., according to information from the organizers’ website.</p><p>The identity of the perpetrator or perpetrators remains unknown, and the motives and circumstances surrounding the shooting are still being investigated. A large area surrounding the horse-racing track, swimming pool, and nearby sports field was cordoned off as police conducted a search. Authorities also increased their presence in other areas of Aarau as a precaution and advised the public to avoid the vicinity.</p><p>The response involved police officers, firefighters, and multiple emergency medical services. Additionally, a cantonal disaster-response unit, the Argus police special unit, and a Swiss military Super Puma helicopter participated in the operation.</p><p>Police in neighboring Germany are assisting with the search as part of routine cross-border cooperation, according to a spokesman in Freiburg. Authorities have appealed to witnesses for videos or photographs from the event and have set up an information line for relatives and eyewitnesses.</p><p>Swiss DJ Tekibo, who performed at the rave, expressed on Instagram that the incident was "absolutely heartbreaking" and emphasized that raves should be places of freedom and safety. He mentioned losing an "important friend," although it remains unclear whom he was referring to.</p><p>Police stated that their investigation and search operation are ongoing.</p>
