Nevada Advances to Little League World Series Title Game with Win Over Ohio

Carsynn Meyer played in Lamade Stadium previously, but now she and her Nevada teammates have an opportunity to make history at the Little League World Series. Meyer, the first girl to participate in the U.S. championship, contributed an RBI single to Nevada's 12-2 victory over Ohio on Saturday, securing a spot in the title game. In the second inning, Meyer received applause from the 20,000 fans as she hit a single with the bases loaded, increasing Nevada's lead. "It’s awesome, especially getting a hit," Meyer stated. "So, like, the first girl to get a hit in the U.S. championship? Awesome." Starting pitcher Owen Guzman had three hits, scored twice, and pitched for 3 2/3 innings. Nevada's defense recorded three double plays, tying a Little League World Series record. Nevada manager Cory Edwards expressed pride in the team's performance, emphasizing their focus on pitching and defense. This marks the second consecutive finals appearance for a Nevada team, following last year's Las Vegas squad that won the U.S. championship but lost in the finals. Nevada will face international champion Curaçao in the final on Sunday. Edwards reflected on the moment, saying, "This right now feels pretty surreal."
