<p>San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York was arrested on August 29, 2026, in East Palestine, Ohio, on suspicion of engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools. These charges were later amended to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools.</p><p>Bodycam footage obtained by OutKick shows York surprised when East Palestine Police Department officers approached his vehicle and took him into custody for attempting to meet a prostitute in a trailer park.</p><p>York was wearing a New York Yankees t-shirt, shorts, and sneakers, and was still wearing his wedding ring. In the footage, he repeatedly asked the officers, "Can I ask what you’re doing?" as they placed him in handcuffs and began a pat-down.</p><p>During the encounter, an officer noted that York had a significant amount of cash in his rental vehicle, specifically hundreds of dollars in $20 bills. An incident report from the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force indicated that York had agreed to pay $160 to a woman for sex after contacting her through an undercover ad on a prostitution website. He used the name "Joe" in his communications and planned to meet her for one hour.</p><p>After pleading no contest to the lesser charge of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools, York was sentenced to one day in jail, with credit for time served, and ordered to pay $1,150 in fines.</p><p>York, originally from Youngstown, Ohio, had recently moved back to the state and filed for divorce from his wife, Danielle Belluomini. The 49ers organization stated they would not comment further on the legal matter, which they consider closed. Head coach Kyle Shanahan addressed the media regarding York, stating that the situation does not affect the team's day-to-day operations and expressed respect for York and his family.</p><p>The NFL is reviewing the incident to determine if it violates their personal conduct policy. York has been the majority owner of the 49ers since 2024, having previously served as the team's CEO.</p>
