7-Year-Old Boy in Coma After Being Struck by Truck in Georgia

A 7-year-old boy in Georgia is in a medically induced coma following an accident in which he was hit by a pick-up truck while running to a school bus stop. The boy, identified as Aiden, was struck by a Ford F-150 around 7 a.m. on August 21 in Rome, Georgia. Witnesses provided CPR before he was transported to a nearby hospital and later airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta-Scottish Rite Hospital. Aiden sustained a diffuse axonal injury, a severe ligament tear between his skull and neck, and fractures to his pelvis, ribs, clavicle, and wrist. He has been intubated since the incident. According to police, the truck driver was not speeding and did not show signs of impairment. The driver remained at the scene and is not facing charges. Police noted that Aiden was not boarding the bus or at a designated crossing when the accident occurred, and the road conditions were wet due to prior storms. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
