Stiggers, who had been sidelined for about two weeks due to fainting during a practice on August 11 and was hospitalized, forced an interception and recovered a fumble in the game. He was previously in the NFL's concussion protocol during his recovery.
Stiggers expressed gratitude for his recovery, stating, "It was pretty scary. I thank God that everything was OK. Credit to the training staff for doing an excellent job assessing and getting me the proper care I need." He was diagnosed with heat-related vasovagal syncope, which affects blood pressure and blood flow to the brain.
Stiggers returned to practice earlier in the week and started the game as the Jets rested their first-team secondary. He faced Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr., whom he admired growing up.
