FBI Adjusts Hiring Standards Regarding Past Criminal Behavior

The new guidelines permit applicants who have hired sex workers fewer than three times and not within the last ten years to be considered. The policy also states that individuals who engaged in bestiality or animal cruelty may still be considered if the incidents occurred before the age of 18. An FBI spokesperson confirmed that some changes have been made to eligibility requirements, emphasizing that they apply to narrow circumstances, such as cases involving childhood abuse. The new policy contrasts with a 2015 memo from the Justice Department that prohibits solicitation of prostitution for all employees, which remains in effect.
