Chrome to Remove Remaining Manifest V2 Extensions on August 31, 2026

Chrome will remove the last listings of Manifest V2 extensions from its Web Store on August 31, 2026. Manifest V2, which defined Chrome extensions for over a decade since its launch in 2012, was officially disabled for all users on July 24, 2025. The removal of these extensions is a part of Google's transition to Manifest V3, which began its rollout in January 2021. The deprecation timeline for Manifest V2 included several key dates: warning banners appeared on June 3, 2024, and MV2 extensions were first disabled on October 9, 2024.
