An Atlanta woman, Brittany Hudson, was sentenced to 16 years and three months in federal prison for her role in a scheme that defrauded Amazon of nearly $10 million, according to a statement from the Justice Department. Hudson was convicted in March on 30 felony charges, including wire fraud, money laundering, conspiracy, and forgery of a federal judge's signature. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia reported that Hudson and her partner, Kayricka Wortham, exploited a business relationship with Amazon to carry out the fraud. From January to June 2022, they created bogus vendor profiles and submitted over 1,000 fictitious invoices, resulting in Amazon transferring approximately $9.4 million to accounts controlled by Hudson, Wortham, and their co-conspirators. The funds were used to purchase luxury items, including a nearly $1 million home and several high-end vehicles. While out on bond, Hudson and Wortham attempted to defraud a franchising company by falsely claiming their criminal charges had been dismissed and submitting counterfeit court documents. Hudson was also ordered to pay restitution of $9,469,731 to Amazon and forfeited her residence and funds seized from her bank account. Wortham received a 16-year prison sentence in June 2023 and additional sentencing in March 2026 for her involvement in the scheme.
