CNN issues apology for airing image of Dolly Parton impersonator during obituary coverage

<p>CNN issued an apology after mistakenly airing a photo of a Dolly Parton impersonator during its coverage of the singer's death. Parton passed away on Tuesday at age 80 following a brief battle with cancer, prompting tributes from fans worldwide.</p><p>During the broadcast of "Laura Coates Live," a montage of images was displayed while CNN correspondent Shimon Prokupecz reported live from Nashville. Among the images was a photo of tribute artist Kelly Vohnn, who was seen at a screening last year of the film "Song Sung Blue," which features a Neil Diamond tribute band.</p><p>A CNN spokesperson stated, "We regret the error and apologize to the Parton family," as reported by Fox News Digital.</p><p>Vohnn commented on the incident in an interview with the New York Post, stating that she received numerous messages from friends informing her of her appearance on CNN. She described the experience as "weird" and expressed her sympathy for Parton, saying, "I felt so sorry and apologetic for Dolly ... and CNN just picked something not appropriate."
