Lawsuit alleges xAI trained Grok models using child sexual abuse materials

<p>xAI has been accused of training its Grok models on child sexual abuse materials (CSAM), as investigations by regulators and courts continue. Some users of Grok have reportedly been arrested in connection with these allegations.</p><p>A complaint filed on August 27, 2026, by a plaintiff known as Jane Doe details her experiences as a preschool-age child in the early 2000s, during which adult men allegedly raped her to create CSAM for sale to pedophiles online. Her images have been previously hashed by organizations such as the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and the Canadian Centre for Child Protection (CCCP).</p><p>For her safety, Doe receives alerts from the US Department of Justice Victim Notification System regarding any potential victimization in new criminal investigations. Recently, she was notified by the CCCP that AI-generated CSAM featuring her had been identified on xAI. This revelation caused her distress, as her complaint states that discussions were found on online forums among offenders about creating AI-generated CSAM involving her and other known victims of CSAM.</p>
