Trump Comments on Supreme Court Ruling Regarding Mail-In Voting

President Donald Trump stated that the Supreme Court's emergency order on mail-in voting is "a great ruling for the Republican Party" on Thursday. The court's ruling earlier this week permits the Trump administration to move forward with an executive order that instructs the U.S. Postal Service to identify which voters should receive mail-in ballots. Additionally, the executive order mandates the Department of Homeland Security to create a database of U.S. citizens eligible to vote. PBS News White House correspondent Liz Landers inquired about the implications of the ruling for states such as North Carolina, where mail-in ballots are scheduled to be sent out next week. Trump responded, "North Carolina is great. It's a great place. I won it all three times. They do some mail-in ballots, but basically they ruled on the legitimacy and the way we want to make them legitimate. It was a great ruling for the Republican Party." Despite his criticisms and false claims regarding mail-in voting, Trump has voted by mail in several Florida elections.
