Jon Ossoff Criticizes Hasan Piker's Comments on American Jews

<p>Senator Jon Ossoff, a Democrat from Georgia, has criticized streamer Hasan Piker following remarks made during a recent livestream. Piker suggested that American Jews could provoke violence against themselves due to their perceived support for Israel. In response, Ossoff stated through a spokesperson that he "unreservedly rejects reckless and dangerous rhetoric suggesting that policy advocacy invites violence against the Jewish community or any community." He emphasized that American Jews and all Americans should be able to express their views without fear of reprisal.</p><p>Piker responded to Ossoff's condemnation by declaring a media "credibility crisis" and implied that Ossoff is part of a "bought & sold political class." Piker had previously referred to Ossoff as a potential candidate for the 2028 presidential election, noting his focus on issues like weapon transfers to Israel.</p><p>Piker expressed his belief that the media frenzy surrounding his comments reflects a broader distrust in institutions, stating, "the last 48 hr media frenzy is exactly why people don't trust institutions from corporate media to our bought & sold political class." He acknowledged that this situation has been beneficial for him as an independent media personality but still believes in the importance of preserving these institutions.</p><p>Several Democratic lawmakers, including Cory Booker, Elissa Slotkin, and Jacky Rosen, have also condemned Piker's remarks. Rosen described Piker's comments as a "new low" and accused him of perpetuating antisemitic tropes. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries stated that the notion that American Jews are inviting violence against themselves is both dangerous and antisemitic.</p><p>Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed, who previously campaigned alongside Piker, distanced himself from the streamer, asserting that only he and his campaign spokespeople represent his views. El-Sayed stated that all Americans should have the right to advocate for their beliefs without fear of violence.</p><p>Piker has maintained his stance and accused the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) of orchestrating the backlash against him.</p><p>Fox News Digital reached out to both Ossoff's office and Piker for further comment.</p>
