Two killed in domestic violence incident at school near Berlin

Two people have been killed in a domestic violence incident at a school in Gosen-Neu Zittau, near Berlin, according to local police. The Brandenburg state police reported the arrest of a 19-year-old German man, identified as the prime suspect. Authorities clarified that the incident was not classified as a mass shooting but did not disclose the type of weapon used. It remains unclear if the suspect was a student at the private Docemus school. The victims include an 18-year-old female student and a 30-year-old man who attempted to intervene during the incident, as reported by local media. The suspect is believed to be the ex-boyfriend of the female victim, according to Maz Online. Ulrike Liedtke, the speaker of Brandenburg's regional parliament, described the incident as a cowardly femicide, expressing sorrow and anger over the violence against a woman. She also noted the tragic loss of a citizen who tried to help. State premier Dietmar Woidke characterized the event as an unimaginable act of violence. Michael Kunz, the managing director of the school, announced that classes would be canceled on Friday but the school would remain open for students who wish to gather and discuss the incident. He stated that a careful decision would be made regarding the future structure of school life in the coming days. In a separate incident last month, two girls were seriously injured at a secondary school in southern Germany, leading to the arrest of a 16-year-old suspect.
