Three Secret Service Officials Placed on Leave Amid Investigation

A spokesperson for the Secret Service confirmed that three officials, who are not law enforcement personnel, have been placed on leave pending an investigation into potential misconduct. Anthony Guglielmi, the Secret Service communications director, has also been placed on leave, according to two sources familiar with the matter. Guglielmi's spokesperson, Gregg Bernstein, did not confirm his leave but stated that Guglielmi is a professional of deep integrity with a long public record of advocating for various agencies. Bernstein emphasized that Guglielmi respects the mission of the Secret Service and is fully cooperating with the investigation. The Secret Service has not disclosed the reasons for the investigation or the identities of the officials involved. In a statement, the agency reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and integrity in its mission to protect the President and other high-level officials. Guglielmi was appointed as communications director in March 2022 and testified before the House January 6 committee later that year regarding Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony.
